Auto Accidents and Personal Injury
Auto accidents are one of the leading causes for misalignments of the spine and discs. Joints, tendons, and other muscular aspects can also be affected by a car accident. In the treatment of the spine for auto-related injuries, chiropractic care can provide faster results with a shorter required care period than other types of treatment.
If you have been in an accident, make sure to get an evaluation within 14 days, or you risk losing all of your insurance benefits for necessary care. In this way you will have an open case so we can treat your ongoing pain in our office. It is always helpful to have multiple opinions about your condition to help ensure that you are accurately diagnosed and treated appropriately. Far too often, patients do not receive the best care or the advanced testing and/or documentation necessary to accurately describe their condition. This makes it difficult to get well, and nearly impossible for an attorney to help with a fair financial settlement.
Dr. Owens is a trauma-trained chiropractor with completed post-doctoral courses in triaging the injured, spinal impairment rating, MRI interpretation, vehicle crash dynamics, and electrodiagnostics. As a primary care spine provider, he will perform a thorough evaluation, refer for advanced imaging as needed, decide which method of treatment will provide the best results, submit claims to your insurance, and communicate directly with your lawyer if necessary.
No matter what speed of impact, how much pain you feel, or whose fault the accident was, every person in an accident needs to seek care right away.
Whiplash is a relatively common injury occurring to a person’s neck following any sudden jolt of force. The injury can describe both bone structure and soft tissue damage. Symptoms of whiplash include: neck and shoulder pain, headache, fatigue, dizziness, arm pain and weakness, ringing in the ear and back pain.
How Core Spine and Joint Can Help with Whiplash
Fortunately, whiplash is not life threatening. However, it is not an ailment that should be ignored as over time, it can lead to a prolonged period of partial disability, and the discomfort of whiplash can be immense.
Chiropractic treatment is unique to each whiplash injury, so a specific treatment can’t be generalized. Common treatments that have proven effective, however, include manipulation, muscle relaxation and stimulation, Class IV Laser and various exercises. These whiplash treatments train the nervous system to better coordinate and control movement patterns, improving the ability of the neck muscles to maintain the stability of the neck.
Class IV laser provides healing light therapy to decrease pain associated with inflammation and to stimulate cellular healing of injured muscles and tendons.
With Physical Therapy pain sufferers are are provided exercises that help stretch injured muscles to strengthen and encourage healing.
